Newt Gingrich, Reps King & Pompeo, Andy McCarthy Discuss the Global Jihad Movement

Washington, D.C.– The Defeat Jihad Summit convened a panel of distinguished experts to discuss strategies to defeat the Global Jihad Movement, including Speaker Newt Gingrich, Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS), Congressman Steve King (R-IA), and Andy McCarthy.

 

“What I’d like to talk about today is 20 years of regression” in fighting the Global Jihad, said McCarthy, explaining that the United States has regressed from a legal, military, and cultural standpoint. He spoke about how the Muslim Brotherhood has been conducting influence operations for decades, and how America must understand the grave threat posed by the radical terror group.
Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS), who serves on the House Intelligence Committee, highlighted the contrast in views on radical Islam between U.S. President Barack Obama and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. While Sisi had the courage to directly call out Islam’s leading clerics directly in an address to his nation, President Obama disbursed a far different message, one that stressed moral equivalence between all religions, while at the National Prayer Breakfast, Pompeo explained.
Congressman Steve King (R-IA) spoke about how western civilization needs to unite behind their ideals against “radical Islamic jihad.” The nation needs to secure ties with our allies, including the UAE and Egypt, explained the Congressman. Rep. King recommended that we deploy a comprehensive strategy, which includes “following the money” and engaging in the cyber domain, in order to defeat the threats posed by enemies of the United States.
“Right now you have a person who is more out of touch with reality” when it comes to President Obama’s understanding of the global jihad movement, explained Speaker Newt Gingrich.
“The minute we pull out [of Afghanistan], its going to collapse,” he added, explaining how the military strategy of the Obama administration has failed.
Gingrich added that the United States needs to stop treating the Saudi Arabian government as if they are reformers, when they are in fact promoting the radical Wahhabi ideology throughout the world.
Gingrich revealed that 49 states are conducting FBI-led investigations about terrorism related issues. The former Speaker of the House said he believes that they all have one common theme: “radical Islam.”
