Criticism as Obama, Clintons Party While Ferguson Erupts in Riots
President Obama is being criticized for vacationing and partying with the Clintons in Martha's Vineyard as protests, and in some cases riots, continue to engulf Ferguson, Missouri after local police shot teenager Michael Brown.
With but few words from Obama about the death of 18-year old Michael Brown, the president continues his vacation in Martha's Vineyard, even attending a birthday party on Wednesday night. According to a White House press release, "a good time was had by all."But as criticism rolled in over Obama's revelry as the situation in Ferguson continues to boil over, the White House insisted that everything was well in hand and Obama was staying informed about the situation.
Via Twitter, the White House reported, "The President was briefed tonight by Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett and Attorney General Eric Holder on the situation in Ferguson."
Many Twitter users were not mollified by these assurances from the White House.
John R. Stanton, for instance, tweeted, "Obama and Clinton hugging it out in the Hamptons while no part of their country burns."
Another noted that the "Obamas danced to nearly every song," but in "other news, Iraqi children drinking parents' blood 2stay alive."
Yet another complained that "Obama has seriously surrounded himself with idiots! Maybe you shouldn't go golfing today. Stay in and play video games at least."
