Looking back at a series of missteps that defined his White House bid during the last presidential election cycle, Perry has made it clear he intends to “be prepared” if he decides to, again, throw his hat in the ring.

“Preparation is the single most important lesson that I learned out of that process,” he said of his 2012 candidacy, calling the experience both “painful” and “humbling.”
In an interview with the National Journal, Perry called the road to the White House “long and arduous,” explaining one “cannot parachute into the process of being vetted for the nomination for the Republican Party without proper preparation.”
He recently appeared on CNN to discuss the active role he has taken to protect citizens in his state – and all Americans – from the threat posed by illegals from around the world streaming across the U.S.-Mexico Border. He told host Candy Crowley that his motivation regarding the border crisis has nothing to do with a desire to become president.
RickPAC spokesperson Mark Miner explained in a statement to the Associated Press that Perry has long promoted a secure border.
“He’s been talking about the same issues for a number of years,” Miner said, “border security, job creation, fiscal responsibility.”
He echoed Perry’s assertion that, if he does make another run for the White House, “he’s going to be prepared.”
